Stilts

Stilts is a triannual journal of established and emerging poets published from Brisbane, Australia.

 

The original Stilts, publishing in print and online, was established in 2011.

Editorial team

Emily O’Grady is a sessional academic and holds a PhD from QUT. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in Meanjin, Australian Poetry Journal, Westerly, The Lifted Brow, The Big Issue Fiction Edition, Kill Your Darlings, and Award Winning Australian Writing. Her first novel, The Yellow House, won the 2018 Australian/Vogel's Literary Award. 

Ella Jeffery's poetry, reviews and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in MeanjinIslandSoutherlyGriffith ReviewAmbit (UK), Best Australian Poems and elsewhere. In 2018 she was shortlisted for the Queensland Premier's Young Writer and Publisher of the Year. Her first collection of poetry, Dead Bolt, was the winner of the inaugural Puncher & Wattmann Prize for a First Book of Poetry and will be published later this year.

Submissions

Submissions for Stilts are currently closed.

We are looking to read high quality, unpublished poems. Simultaneous submissions are not encouraged.

Please send up to three poems in a single word document to stiltsjournal[at]gmail[dot]com, with the subject heading Submission for Issue X. Include your name, contact details, social media links (if applicable) and a 50-word bio.

 

We are self-funded, and proud to pay our Australian contributors. Stilts is run by unpaid volunteers.
